5 Gifts to Give Yourself this Holiday Season

Happy holiday season, ladies! Can you believe this year is winding down to a close and we're already deep into preparing for and celebrating the holidays?! Along with the normal hustle and bustle of this season, there is obviously still work to be done and families to care for, which can all honestly weigh a girl down real quick.

That's why I wanted to share a few ideas for ways to take care of and invest in yourself during the holidays as a wife, mom and business owner. I'm a big believer in prioritizing taking care of yourself - because you're beyond worth it AND, if you don't take care of yourself, everything else in your life will most likely fall apart too!

So, here are a few practical things you can do to love on yourself a little this holiday season :)

1. Take a break!

Girls, so often we are way too hard on ourselves and work ourselves to the bone! I know sometimes life calls for that, but when we get stuck in patterns of pouring out more than we are filling up with, things start to get imbalanced really fast. My advice? Give yourself the gift of a break. That could mean for a day, for a weekend, a whole week or even (gasp!) an entire month!! It could mean hiring a babysitter to come help with the kids while you get some projects done. It could mean pressing the pause button on business to rest and recenter. It could mean stealing away for a weekend all by yourself. Only you know what kind of break you need most, so whatever it is that you're needing - do that for yourself!

2. Schedule a massage, a pedicure....or better yet, a full-blown spa day!

This one really needs no explanation. Every girl needs a little (or a lot!) of pampering every once in awhile. What better time to do so than the busy, stressful, crazy holidays?! I know money doesn't grow on trees, and spa services can be pricey, but....look at your budget, see what you can do and make it happen. Remember: you. are. worth. it.

3. Plan a dinner date with your main squeeze

Don't forget to prioritize special time spent connecting with your hubby - this is so important! Getting out for some fun on the town will not only draw you both closer together, but it will go a long way toward helping you stay unwound and relaxed as you go about your everyday tasks during the holidays.

4. Take a planning retreat

Pull out that calendar and see when you can clear your schedule to take a day with your favorite notepad and pen (or mechanical pencil, if that's your thing - I'm obsessed!) and start setting your goals and getting organized for 2017. What worked in 2016 and what was a bust? I'm a total nerd and just LOVE doing this. Create charts and calendars that work for you and that will help you be more productive next year. Then, spend a little bit of time organizing your computer's desktop and folders and clearing off your desk. Taking some time during this season to set yourself up for success in the next will take a big load off your shoulders, promise!

5. Congratulate yourself on a fantastic year!

Too often we make the mistake of moving right past the successes and accomplishments that we've worked so hard for without stopping to give them, and ourselves, the proper recognition they deserve. But learning how to positively affirm and celebrate ourselves can be really powerful in sustaining our continued forward progress! Don't sell yourself short by always looking at what's ahead. Take some time and reflect on everything you've done this past year, all the victories you've had, big or small, and how you've grown and changed as a woman, as a wife, as a mom and as a business owner.

I want to wrap up by reminding you one last time (because I want it firmly planted inside your head and heart) YOU. ARE. WORTH. SO. MUCH. Don't you forget it, girlfriend. And don't forget to take care of you during this season when you're sure to be taking care of everything and everyone else at the same time. Be good to yourself, and enjoy your holidays to the fullest!
